The normal recommend route to the viewing point is only about 30 mins, this is good BUT if you want a long scenic and BEAUTIFUL WALK just follow the path straight up from where you get off the metro in vettakollen and you will walk for about 20 minutes- past the normal route on your right- and you'll see a path at the top. If you follow this and keep going 'right' down path choices you will reach the viewing point after about 2 hours.

One of my favourites is to head up to Vettakollen. The signposted trail starts by Sognsvann lake (take the the subway to Sognsvann and take the path to the left just by the shop by the lake and then left again) and it’s about 4km to the top, which opens up to one of the best views of Oslo.

Go to the right on Gulleråsveien, and then to the left on Bånntjernveien and follow it to the woods behind the buildings. From here there’s a well-marked trail to the top. Fine view!
